Optimum use of water resources is one of the most historic human Purposes. Nowdays, and according to the goals and applications of dams, It is important to adopt appropriate mechanisms for exploitation of dams and reservoirs. The purpose of this study is to achieve optimal length and height for Ogee spillway. In order to provide the objective function of cost and damage, flood length variations in the range of 10 to 30 meters and the flood return period were considered in the range of 1000 to 10,000 years. With the help of genetic algorithm, optimization was performed in the MATLAB software environment In this research, the effect of length and height of Spilway on The cost of Spillway was investigated and analytical relationships were presented by using Regression Model. The results of the research indicated that the optimum length of the Spillway is 14.4 meters and the optimum height is 31.47 meters. In general, the designer considered used for length and height of ogee spillway dam 28% and 34% respectively for safety margin. Choosing there values, will greatly increase the cost of the project, requiring engineers to review all components in the selection of appropriate margins for spillway dimensions by considering all components.
